MDE20468 - Possible post-medieval mining activity north of Barcombe Down (Monument)

North side of Barcombe Down. A group of linear mounds and small spoil heaps were noted on aerial photographs dating to 1977 and were thought to represent mining activity. [1,2] It has also been suggested that the features concerned may date to the Second World War, based on aerial photographs available to the HER.
