MDE11932 - Possible building platform south of Shilstone Farm (Monument)

SS 7640 4659. Low earthworks suggest the site of a building. Cottage or deserted farm site? [1-2] The feature recorded by [2] lies on the east bank of an unnamed tributary of the East Lyn River south of Shilstone Farm. It consists of a battered possible rectangular platform, with very amorphous banking upon it, possibly representing walling. The platform has been damaged by the stream on the west, and by farm access to a ford nearby. [3] There are no features recorded on the Brendon Tithe Map or the 1st Edition Ordnance Survey maps in this location. [4,5] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [6]
