Full Description

An inhabited structure is shown on the Tithe Map for Kentisbury Parish [1] at approximately SS 63054462. The structure is shown in 1890 [2], and described as "Mount Whistle (in ruins)". No surface evidence for the building survives adjacent to the modern Blackmoor Gate to Combe Martin road. Some fragmentary field walling indicates the position of the plot in which the structure was built. [1-3] The building is no longer shown on the 2nd Edition Ordnance Survey map and had presumably been cleared. [4] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [5]
