MDE10868 - Disputed prehistoric hut circle southwest of Parracombe Common (Monument)

A low bank forming a circular pound with entrance on the northeast side. It possibly encloses a rather small and doubtful hut circle. It shows well on aerial photographs dating to 1947. [1,2] No trace of the enclosure or the hut circle was observed in the vicinity of the National Grid Reference. Some stone quarrying has taken place in this area. [3] The site has been mapped from the CRAAGS aerial photograph transcription, held as a georeferenced layer by ENPA. [2,4] This record was enhanced as part of the pilot project for the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer. [5,6]
