Technique(s)

Organisation

Exmoor National Park Authority

Date

May 2008

Description

The site was subject to evaluation excavations in spring 2008 due to the potential for significant archaeology identified by chance flint finds and geophysical survey. The evaluation was aimed at establishing the preservation of archaeological remains, particularly due to recent disturbance, and to recover a flint assemblage to allow assessment of the material and the establishment of a date for the site. Seven trenches of c.2m x 2m were opened. The excavations recovered over 500 pieces of flint but no datable deposits were encountered.
