Full Description

Putham Quarry is centred at SS 9335 3896. It is a limestone quarry exploiting the Roadwater limestone. No detailed field investigation. [1] 'South Cleeve Quarry (disused)' and 'Putham Quarry (disused)' shown on the Ordnance Survey map. [2] Both quarries are mentioned (but not marked as disused) on the 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map. [3] Holley records a limekiln at SS 9340 3899. [4] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [5]
