Summary

Two small spoil tips thought to be associated with the Smokey Bottom ironstone mine are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1947.

Full Description

The earthwork remains of two small tips located at SS 9813 3543. One is oval and the other elongated with possible traces of a shaft in the centre. They are both probably associated with the Smokey Bottom ironstone mine (MSO8964). [1,2] Only amorphous earthworks remain on the site. [3] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [4]
