Full Description

Centred at SS 92309 48464 is a stony mound 7.5 metres in diameter and 1 metre high. It contains mainly stone, some earth and a few pieces of brick. The mound is either a clearance dump from agricultural improvements or the result of a demolition phase at the end of World War Two. [1] The possible 20th Century mound is not visible aerial photographs taken before 1979 and therefore adds weight to the interpretation the mound is indeed the result of agricultural improvements or from the demolition of the Second Word War target railway (MSO8084). [2-4] Possibly the remains of dugout at east end of mover track on Range B. This moving target (MSO8084) has been systematically destroyed and removed after the closure of the range. [5] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [6]
