Full Description

Large chipped flint celt, or axe, of Neolithic type (exact provenance unknown), found utilised as a stone in a flower bed of a cottage at Roadwater. The well-patinated implement is 12.5 inches in length and is in the County Museum, Taunton. [1] Mr Hallam considers that this is a secondary Neolithic ritual axe. It is still in Taunton Castle Museum. [2,3] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [4]
