MMO2745 - Post-medieval quarry south of Two Barrows (Monument)

A small quarry or extractive pit, probably dating to the post-medieval period, is visible as an earthwork immediately south of the barrow group known as Two Barrows, North Molton. Centred at SS 7467 3617, the quarry is visible as a slight irregularly shaped depression measuring approximately 40 metres across. It is fairly shallow, suggesting it may have been at least partially backfilled. Several pits and quarries are depicted but not annotated at this location on the 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map, suggesting they were abandoned but still visible at the time of publication in 1889.
