MMO1717 - Possible late prehistoric round barrow or clearance cairn on Scob Hill (Monument)

McDonnell notes low banks forming two possible hut circles and other less definable features in this location on aerial photographs dating to 1947. [1,2] A possible clearance cairn or small round barrow of Bronze Age date is visible on aerial photographs of the 1940s as an earthwork mound approximately 10 metres in diameter, centred on circa SS 7505 4670 Brendon parish. The mound is at an elevation of approximately 355 metres above Ordnance Datum, and might be situated on a false crest towards the summit of Scob Hill. It has previously been interpreted as a possible hut circle. The earthwork has been levelled by 1995.
