Full Description

"Pound Cottages" are annotated on the 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map. They appear to be depicted as two semi-detached cottages fronting the road with outshuts to the rear (west). [1] The heritage asset was assessed for inclusion on the Exmoor Local Heritage List in February 2024. It was noted that a joiners shop is recorded in 1833 and may have been at Pound Cottages. It was deemed to have high historical association with it's connection to the Knight Estate and a moderate Social Communal Value being a prominent building in the village. It also has high group value being centrally located in Simonsbath and being a key building in the village. It was decided to add the asset to the Local Heritage List. [2]
