Full Description

The Tithe Map for Timberscombe depicts a lime kiln at SS 9498 4211. It is situated on the edge of land parcel 6, which the accompanying Apportionment describes as "Kiln Close", part of the Bickham Estate and in use as an orchard. [1] The site is labelled as an old lime kiln on the 1st and 2nd Edition Ordnance Survey maps. [2,3] The kiln appears to have been demolished, presumably to provide more room for the road on which it was situated. [4]
