Full Description

The farmstead at Lynch is depicted as a group of buildings set at the northern end of Plot 58 and labelled as 'Lynch' on the Selworthy Tithe Map. [1] A similar layout of buildings are depicted on the First and Second Edition 25 inch Ordnance Survey maps, with a 'Chapel' now labelled within the southeast corner of the group of buildings. [2,3] A similar layout of buildings are depicted on the Ordnance Survey MasterMap where they are now labelled as 'West Lynch Farm.' The chapel is still labelled within the southeast corner of the group of buildings. [4] The Historic England Archive contains a file on the farmstead. [5] West Lynch Farm now houses the Exmoor Owl and Hawk Centre, Horse Riding, Alpaca treks and tea rooms. The buildings are tightly grouped to the south of the farmhouse, effectively creating two partly enclosed yards, with the medieval chapel forming the southwest part of the east yard. The farmhouse is set back from the lane with the front elevation now a backdrop to an ornamental garden. [6]
