Full Description

A line of dots are shown crossing the River Barle here on the Tithe Map for Withypool, marking the continuation of a footpath heading northwards towards Withypool. [1] The dots are also shown on the 1st and 2nd Edition Ordnance Survey maps and are labelled "Stepping Stones". [2,3] The stones are not marked on the present Ordnance Survey mapping; however, aerial photographs taken in 2013 appear to show the line of stones still present in the River. [4,5]
