Full Description

An area of old quarrying remains are depicted and labelled on the 25 inch 1st Edition Ordnance Survey map. [1] The quarries are also shown on the 6 inch 2nd Edition map and the six inch 1962 map. [2,3] Vertical air photographs show a possible circular enclosure at SS 7542 4694 [4]. Ground investigation reveals the feature to be a combination of quarrying and natural scarps at the junction of four fields. [5] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [6]
