Full Description

Centred at SS 96143 28611 is an area of surface quarrying. It occupies the summit of Hadborough immediately around the Ordnance Survey triangulation pillar. The quarrying takes the form of a number of adjacent pits 1.2 metres deep and up to 8 metres across, presumably to retrieve either stone or ballast. Surveyed by GPS as part of the RCHME Exmoor Survey. [1,2] The quarry is visible on aerial photographs. [3,4] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [5]
