Full Description

At SS 9803 2948 is the partially buried socket stone of a churchyard cross not recorded by Pooley [1]. It is 0.7 metres square and has a chamfered top edge and broached corners. A Braikenridge water colour depicts the socket stone with a broken shaft on a single step at approximately this position. Surveyed at 1:2500. [4] The churchyard cross is of high illustrative value and holds high heritage significance. [5] This record was enhanced as part of the National Record of the Historic Environment to Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record data transfer project. [6]
