MSO10630 - 17th Century gravestone in All Saints Churchyard (Monument)

An early 17th Century headstone is a rare survival from this period in this area. It is, however, weatherworn and the inscription is illegible. It has a carving of an angel's head, carried on Corinthian capitals.

Head stone. Early C17. Square headed weatherworn and partly sunk in ground. Inscribed illegibly on convex centre to semi-circular headed bay with carved angel's head, carried on Corinthian capitals, flanked by draps, spandrels decorated with C scrolls. [4] The gravestone was visited in May 2012 as part of the rapid condition survey of Exmoor's Listed Buildings 2012-13. It received a BAR score of 4A.
