What is it?
This is a thumbnail scraper, made from flint and thought to date from the Bronze Age. The working edge is extremely angled and is used to soften or clean hides, or for woodworking.
Where was it found?
It was found on the edge of a vehicle track on Cheriton Ridge in 2013.
Why is it important?
It was found adjacent to a hut platform in a wider area of settlement earthworks thought to date to the Bronze Age. The find may help to provide dating evidence for these features.
